Compliance optimization, which includes tracking and identifying performance issues and communicating issues to suppliers, pays off for both parties. When supply chain problems are identified at a detailed level, addressed, and fixed, the retailer-supplier partnership benefits. It becomes more efficient and more profitable.

West Coast Port Strike Could Damage U.S. Economy

While the West Coast port strike may shave one percent off the fourth quarter’s GDP when numbers are revealed February 27, the short-term impacts of the work stoppage are easier to measure. Countless goods, such as fresh fruit ready for shipment to Asia and festive décor to celebrate the Chinese New Year, languished in warehouses, docks and cargo ships at 29 ports on the U.S. West Coast, including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. The reason? A nine-month contract dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, which represents 20,000 workers, and their employers, the Pacific Maritime Association.
Locally Installed Software Is Dead

If you haven’t noticed yet, there’s less actual software installed on local computers and more being accessed through online connections to remote computers, or at least to remote storage systems. This transition makes a lot of sense for a lot of reasons and those of us in the supply chain are likely to be prime beneficiaries of the trend.
