Benefits or Nuisance: Vendor Compliance

Last week I attended the New England ECOM Fall conference and during the series of presentations there were a couple of speakers that talked on the topic of Vendor Compliance or Chargeback's assessed by retailers. One covered what their company implemented as a supplier to address and reduce the assessments of retailer chargebacks and the other shared that Compliance or Chargeback's can be a benefit to the supply chain process so I thought that I'd share my viewpoint on the topic; are Vendor Compliance chargebacks a benefit or a nuisance.

As companies look at 2012 they continue to see that Retail is becoming more competitive. There are now new ways to sell such as expansion of websites, opening new stores, some are looking at "Marketplace" programs and others are participating in "Flash-buy" initiatives to gain the customer loyalty. To expand on the article that Marlow wrote last month, we're starting to see Retailers or E-tailers moving back to looking at collaboration with their trading partners in ways similar to what started happening in the late 90's. What's different now is that most trading partners either did not have EDI or they were only trading the very basic transactions.
