Supply Chain Pros Say Data Loss Is Greatest Risk
Data loss is the greatest concern for supply chain professionals, according to a poll of nearly 500 IT and risk-management professionals conducted by Forrester Research on behalf of BitSight. The results, released earlier this month, indicate that when global supply chain pros work with third-party vendors, 63 percent fear the loss and theft of confidential data more than any other risk.
In a press release, BitSight co-founder and chief technology officer Stephen Boyer said the supply chain has become a cyber-security minefield for the business world.
In related news, Easy Office Phone published research predicting the trends that will impact small business service providers in 2015. The report indicated the demand for disaster recovery solutions will surge this year, contradicting the general perception that only big businesses face potentially debilitating cyber threats.
In fact, according to CyberEdge Group’s second annual Cyberthreat Defense Report, 52 percent of respondents reported they expect to fall victim to a successful cyber-attack within the next 12 months, an increase of 13 percent since the last survey in 2013. Over 800 security professionals worldwide participated in that poll.
Further findings show that 71 percent of respondents reported their data had been compromised in some way during the last 12 months.
