EDI Specifications and Testing

specificationsEDI Specificiations and documentation - if you're involved with the maintenance of your company's EDI system then you already know about the internals of EDI documents and how small changes can lead to big problems. Making the required changes is part and parcel of the EDI process, but knowing what changes are coming from which trading partners can cause problems when it comes to implementing the changes on a timely basis.

ec-bp.com offers 2 services that can help with keeping up with the changes your trading partners require. Compliance Clearinghouse has been supplying announcements of document changes to ec-bp readers for several years. You will find their monthly list in this article that is updated on a regular basis.

At the beginning of 2013, Infoborders began providing access to its website directly through ec-bp.com through the EDI Specs menu item on our site. What you will find on this page is a list of more than 2,100 trading partners and information about their specifications. But there is more to the service than simply a list of specifications.

Use the search box to find a retail trading partner and view their related documents. Once you've opened the Infoborders page you can select to view their list of document specifications. In addition to the specs it's possible to submit spec documents and to test your own processes against the specs.

The interesting part of the site is that it is community based. That is, you can create your own identity on the site and interact with others as well as contribute your own versions of the documents. We will cover more about the specifics of this free resource, but for now, click the link and get acquainted with the site.
