Scott Koegler, editor of ec-bp.org talks with Liz Herbert, Senior Analyst for Forrester, about asking the right questions of a
SaaS provider to make your migration to SaaS, the right one. In my conversation with Liz Herbert, of
Forrester Research, Liz talks about the things that can be so right, and the things that can go wrong when making a commitment to implement a SaaS based solution. Whether you're considering a SaaS based solution for your
EDI operations, or any other aspects of your business, these principals apply.
Liz identified these as the 5 most important questions to pose to your prospective SaaS provider:
- Cost/TCO - Are there hidden costs, limits to capacities, or other surprises?
- Security - Is the environment more or less secure than your own systems?
- Support - What kind of support is being provided?
- Future direction - What are the vendor's plans for upgrades and changes, and do they match your needs?
- Vendor viability - What is the vendor's financial condition?
